Household Waste Recycling Centres Under Threat

Notices & Meetings

Oxfordshire County Council are once again considering the closure of some Household Waste Recycling Centres in order to save £350,000 from their expenditure by 2017/18. A public consultation is now open and residents are being asked to give their opinion on possible changes. OCC plans to reduce the number of HWRC's from 7, to 3 or 4 over several years, and possibly reduce opening hours.

Based on population areas and travel times 3 areas have been identified where the council think Recyling Centres should be located in the future. Central North Oxfordshire, Oxford, which would mean Redbridge site being expanded or replaced, and Drayton, which again may have to be expanded or replaced. A reduction in the number of opening hours, may allow for the retention of a fourth site, Dix Pit, Oakley Wood or Stanford in the Vale.
